Man stabbed to death in Oldham
A man has been stabbed to death in Oldham early this morning.
Shortly after 12.15am this morning, Monday 19 November 2012, police received a call from the ambulance service stating a 48-year-old man had been stabbed at a house on Coleridge Road.
Emergency services attended the scene and found a man with serious stab wounds to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterwards.
A post mortem examination will take place later today to establish the cause of death.
Three men aged 57, 39, and 32 and a 29-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody for questioning.
Detective Superintendent Alex Millett, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This is a tragic incident in which a man has lost his life.
“We are now in the early stages of a detailed investigation and we are determined to establish exactly what happened.
“It is understandable that people are concerned about what has happened, but I want to reassure the community that we have already made a number of arrests and the investigation is progressing.
“We have extra officers in the area so, if you have concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to them.”
