When is the best time to start a new career?

When’s the best time to start a new career?

Right now perhaps!  When you need to or want to!  When your current role isn’t satisfying or using your skills and potential, because we need to keep learning and striving, to have challenges that we can overcome and learn from (and mistakes as the only way to learn!) • Your purpose that your new role will fulfil you – to helping others, research and analysis or the challenge of selling if that’s what turns you on! • The opportunity to try out new careers or roles, or jobs and companies. How? Ask people who work there, buy from the or visit them, apply for jobs and see how they treat you. • Apply for jobs you think you might enjoy – a step up from where you are now, and even step well out of your comfort zone! You never know. • Accept the ‘coincidences’ happen (synchronicity – if you’re looking, you will see it!) i.e. the law of attraction • Contacts you can ask for help, discuss ideas with, push you a little, come up with new perspectives and more (coaches do this professionally, but initially friends and family can help) • Time and head space to plan and take action steps towards your new goal, you knew career or job role. • Commitment to the cause! Be willing to try, willing to fail and resilient to the ‘rejections’ or disappointments that your new career will fall into your lap. It won’t. It will take time, effort and energy.
“Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance.”  Samuel Johnson “Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties.” Erich Fromm
