A woman who sadly died in Chadderton has been named.

Shortly before 12.30pm on Saturday 26 May 2018 police were called by the ambulance service to the concern for the welfare of a woman on Argyll Road.

Officers attended and found the body of a woman, who has since been formally identified as 55-year-old Jacqueline Smith. The results of a Home Office Post Mortem examination were inconclusive however, enquiries into the circumstances surrounding her death are ongoing.

A 48-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Jacqueline’s family has paid tribute to her, saying: “We have lost our beautiful daughter, sister, aunty and best friend Jacqueline Smith.

“She always had a smile on her face and contagious laugh that made everyone smile.

“She has left a huge hole in our hearts that we will never replace.

“Our heart breaks knowing we will never see you again, but you will always be in our thoughts – sleep tight – from your family.”
