Officers are searching for two Asian men, after an attempted car theft in Mossley. This is similar to a recent Saddleworth incident. One man around 6ft tall wearing dark clothing and sports type top with stripes on arms, the other was around 5ft6 wearing dark clothing. The attack happened at 8.25pm on Tuesday 28 November.
Police were called after a 63-year-old man was attacked and robbed, leaving him with significant facial injuries on Carrbrook Crescent in Tameside.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.
Detective Inspector Gary McIntyre from GMP’s Tameside Borough said: “This was a sustained and violent attack on an innocent member of the public as they made their way home after work.
“We believe the two men wanted to steal his car, the lengths they have gone to in order to attempt to steal his car are very worrying however.
“This happened in a quiet residential area, we are appealing for anyone who witnessed this awful attack to get in touch as soon as possible.
“We have increased patrols in the area and would ask for anyone who sees anything suspicious to speak to the police.”
