Band in the Barn raises thousands for Charity again

Saddleworth Round Table staged  another fantastic evening of music at the beautiful setting of John Collin’s Doctor House Farm at the weekend.

The working barn was transformed complete with huge stage, lighting and a well-equipped bar made from straw bales giving a rustic feel to the event which attracted more than 300 revellers.

The evening kicked off with the brilliant Natalie McGrath, followed by a Band in a Barn legend Marcus Songs.

The event had DJ sets by local heroes Howling Rhythm with the headline spot going to the energetic Professor Fonque and the all-stars.

Beer  was provided by Donkeystone Brewing co. who put on  a selection of fantastic larger and ales . Wood fired pizza and Mobile Gourmet kitchen kept the crowds well fed with their delicious pizzas, burgers and burritos.

The event, which started in 2013, has become a fixture on the Saddleworth event calendar and this couldn’t have been the case without the generosity of John Collins who gives the barn over each year for the event to take place.

Early forecasts suggest the event has generated close to £5,000 for Saddleworth Round Table who in-turn are appealing to local charities and worthy causes to get in touch if they require funds.

This year’s event lead John Arthurs (29) commented on the event saying ‘The success of this event is down to the coming together of Saddleworth Round Table members, who each put in effort to make the event possible, additionally the generosity of local businesses such as Manchester Cabins, Holroyd skips, HPP, Donkeystone, Rose scaffolding, Carol at St Johns Ambulance and finally John & Joanne Collins’.

The current chairman of Saddleworth Round table Andrew Rothwell (35) is pleased to announce that in the past two months we have attracted another four members taking the overall membership count close to 30.

If you are an 18-45 male looking to work within your community with like-minded people to raise money for local causes then please contact our membership officer Richard Foster on facebook@SaddleworthRT or call 07882140010’
