On Saturday 21st April the Saddleworth Male Voice Choir will present their annual St George’s Day Concert at 7.30pm in the Civic Hall, Uppermill.
The choir will sing pieces from their male voice repertoire which have a particular English connection. The finale gives the audience the opportunity to join in a flag waving sing-along to such favourites as Land of Hope and Glory, There’ll always be an England and Jerusalem.
The choir’s special guest this year will be the popular Bolton folk singer, actor, and comedian Bernard Wrigley. Bernard has appeared in Phoenix Nights, Emmerdale, Coronation Street and many other northern themed TV favourites. Bernard has many CD recordings of typical Lancashire folk songs and monologues and the evening promises to be another memorable occasion.
Tickets for the concert are available at £10.00 (No Concessions) from Saddleworth Museum, Uppermill Post Office or Cliff Etherden on 01457 872464.
SMVC continually seeks to increase its membership and anyone with a reasonable voice is invited to attend our weekly rehearsals every Wednesday between 7.30pm – 9.30pm at the Old School on the corner of Station Road and Lee Street in Uppermill, or contact Mike Smith (Recruitment Officer) on 0161-431-9848.
