Brennan Reece: Everlong at Millgate Arts Centre

Reporter : Amelia Shaw

On Thursday the 8 March, comedian Brennan Reece performed for Saddleworth at the Millgate Arts Centre with the hilarious Nina Gilligan as support. Filled with tales of his relatives, stories of his life and plenty of local jokes Brennan really did not disappoint his new neighbours, having just moved to Uppermill. He really did make a rainy Thursday in Delph feel like a Saturday night at the Manchester Arena while the show itself held the standard of a something you’d expect to see on ‘Live at the Apollo’, and it is a credit to both Reece and Saddleworth Live. At various points the audience were close to tears of both happiness and sadness as audience participation worked splendidly with the one man show that is not to be missed.

Saddleworth Live are a non-profit organisation who really are doing what they aim to do in bringing the very best of arts and entertainment to the heart of Saddleworth as part of their ‘Live at the Millgate’ series. Having performed at the likes of Edinburgh Fringe Festival and more recently featuring as the voice of ITV2’s ‘Survival of the Fittest’, a real star was brought to our doorstep. Additionally, Millgate Arts Centre provides a really comfortable theatre with a bar that seats 157 making shows more relaxed, whilst also offering first class entertainment expected of much bigger venues.
