There was a series of burglary incidents in Friezland last night, at two homes and the village school. Meanwhile, a new Sergeant has begun work with our local police team.

According to the police, the school was targeted at about 9:40pm. There was also a house burglary, and thieves tried to steal a car, at two homes at some point during the night.

Officers are asking anyone with any information to get in touch, and are reminding local householders to remain vigilant.

Meanwhile, the new Sergeant for our area has started work. Steve Hall takes over from Craig Johnson, who recently retired after 35 years in the force, more than 20 of which he spent here in Saddleworth.

You can get up-to-date information from the Saddleworth and Lees police team at their website here, or from their Twitter feed here. You can ring them directly by calling the Uppermill office number 0161 856 4525.
