If you’re after something a bit different to do with your child during the holidays, you could try the Fair Traders Co-operative over in Holmfirth, where youngsters have been taking part in arts and crafts sessions.

The sessions have been running every Friday during the summer, and there are still three to go before the schools go back.

Last Friday, the Saddleworth News cub reporter enjoyed making musical instruments from items found in the shop’s junkbox.

This Friday’s session is called Super Spoon, on 26 August it’s Grow a Garden with Story Puppets on 2 September.

Two different sessions take place every Friday, from 11am to 12 noon and from 2pm to 3pm. It’s £2 per child, and parents and adults alike get a Fairtrade drink thrown in.

The Fair Traders Co-operative website is here. The shop also has a Facebook page here, and a Twitter feed here.
