Debbie Abrahams Backs Earth Hour

Saddleworth MP Debbie Abrahams has been showing her support for the World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour, due to take place later this month.
The fund is urging people around the world to turn off their lights between 8:30pm and 9:30pm on 26 March, to give a signal of how much they care about tackling climate change and protecting the environment.
Earlier this week, Ms Abrahams joined other MPs at Westminster to provide a bit of pedal power and help charge up some batteries which will be used to project images of the natural world onto the Royal Albert Hall during the hour.
In a statement, Ms Abrahams commented: “I’m delighted to be able to show my support for Earth Hour which reminds us all that we have only one planet Earth, and we will have to come together to protect it from climate change.”
The first Earth Hour took place in Sydney in Australia in 2007. According to the WWF, last year’s was the biggest yet, with people in 128 different countries and territories taking part.
