Debbie Abrahams’ office has contacted Saddleworth News and Life with her comment:

“I strongly refute the allegations of bullying made against me. I believe the investigation was not thorough, fair or independent.

“I will continue to represent the people of Oldham East and Saddleworth, and to hold this Government to account, from the back benches.”

Tues 8 May

Labour’s welfare chief has been sacked after a party investigation upheld complaints of bullying against her staff.

Debbie Abrahams, MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth, who has led the party’s campaigns against the Tories’ benefits cuts, was asked to stand aside in March.

Sources say that multiple complainants came forward supported by several witnesses.
The investigation is understood to have found that Ms Abrahams engaged in a pattern of bullying behaviour towards her staff employed by the Labour Party.
Ms Abrahams, who has been shadow secretary of state for work and pensions since 2016, strongly denies the claims.
