Delph through to 2nd Round of Sykes Cup

Delph eased their way through to the 2nd round of the Sykes Cup with a comprehensive win against Thongsbridge.

Delph won the toss and batted on a cold grey day and Faisal Butt set off in a hurry quickly getting to 23 before being bowled. The main stand of the innings then followed between Irfan Zahoor (90) and Kevin Hook (77), who put on 172 before being parted.

They both fell in quick succession and it was left to Bruce Cruse, with 44 not out, to steer the rest of the innings up to an impressive 297 for 7 at the end of their 50 overs. Thongsbridge were soon in trouble with Matt Norvall running through the top order. Thongsbridge struggled to 48 for 8, before Tom Kemp and Tom Raven-Hill added 48 for the 8th wicket.

Arron Lilley mopped up the tail to leave Delph winners by 197 runs . Norvall finished with 5 for 18 off 12 overs and Lilley 4 for 16 off 8.3 overs.
