Dobcross In Lights Winner Revealed
The winner of the annual Dobcross In Lights competition has been announced. The title goes to Gary Kershaw, who lives on Lower Fields near Nicker Brow.
The result was revealed during the Christmas Day carol concert at Dobcross Band Club. It’s the first time the contest has been won by a home away from the village square.
Both whistling champion David Morris of the square, and Tim Newbold and Michael Powis of Woods Lane, were highly commended. Tim and Michael can console themselves with their triumph in the Saddleworth Illuminations contest, in which they won the prize for Best Small Residential Property.
Michael, who edits the Dobcross Diary, said: “Once again Dobcross looked like a winter wonderland this year at Christmas, especially with the snow. The efforts made by so many households with decorating their houses with lights brought a bit of cheer to villagers and visitors.”
He also thanked the Band and Social Club for presenting the award.
