I just want to say thank you to the people of Saddleworth who supported their Independent candidates in these elections. I didn’t quite make it in my ward unfortunately but I would like to say a huge thank you to each and every one of the 509 people from Greenfield ward who put their faith in me. I was absolutely staggered and humbled by the response of so many people in such a short space of time. I had no major political party to hide behind or get guaranteed votes from. I fully intend to continue the fight for a better deal for the ward (watch this space!) and for Saddleworth as a whole. I believe that a clear message has been sent to people who thought they could use their position to try and pull the wool over the public’s eyes over issues such as Churchill. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage more members of the Saddleworth public to consider standing as an Independent in the future or lending their support in any way. Contact any of the group (my e-mail address is helenbishop25@yahoo.co.uk) or visit www.voiceofsaddleworth.com if you are interested. We have made massive progress in a few short weeks. We now need to capitalise on the momentum we’ve achieved and really take back control of Saddleworth. Well done everyone! Big pat on the back all round and a damn good day for Saddleworth! Oh, and last but definitely not least, thanks to Richard for providing excellent coverage and for giving us this forum from which we are able keep more of us properly informed 🙂
