M62 Crash Causes Traffic Problems In Denshaw

A traffic jam at the junction in Denshaw today.

There were traffic jams in Denshaw this afternoon, as drivers took back roads to avoid a serious accident near Junction 22 of the M62.

Some lorries struggled with the hill on the A640 from Newhey up towards Ogden Reservoir and Clough Manor, as well as Denshaw junction itself.

The eastbound carriageway of the motorway was closed for a time following the accident, which involved a car, a lorry and a van. More information is available in a story from the Examiner here.

The jams in Denshaw completed a day of delays on Saddleworth’s roads. BT roadworks on Uppermill High Street led to lengthy tailbacks, and a collapsed retaining wall during replacement work forced the complete closure of Chapel Road between Uppermill and Greenfield.

You can read more about those incidents from Saddleworth News here and here.
