NEW Disable People’s Organisation in Oldham

After a successful first meeting on establishing a Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO) in Oldham, we had another zoom meet up 👉 last week👈 Please see contact details below to find out more and if you wish to join them.

So if you’re a disabled person in Oldham, come and say hello!

What do we mean by disabled people?

We mean anyone facing disabling societal barriers due to their impairments or conditions and this includes physical and/or mental health, hearing or visual impairments, learning disability, neurodiverse people, and those with chronic illness or fatigue.

What’s a DPO?

It’s where disabled people meet up and run things by and for ourselves, to use the social model of disability to make our rights a reality! It’s about removing the barriers in society that get in the way of us living the lives we want! It’s about changing attitudes and changing society!

What’s the Social Model of Disability?

We’re glad you asked, we wrote all about it on our website here

👉 gmcdp.com/beliefs-values-aims/social-model

it’s how we liberate ourselves from oppression and it all starts by meeting up and self organising.
