Oldham Theatre Celebrates 80 Years of a Classic Comedy
Lyceum Theatre Oldham continues a Season of British Comedy with a play that will hit the funny bone of all ages.
In its 80th Anniversary year, J B Priestley’s ‘When we are married’ (13-21 April) is as relevant today as when it was first written.
Poking fun at Victorian values, the play also takes a pop at marriage, society, the press and tradition when three 
couples, who thought they had been married for 25 years, find their settled, secure, respectable lives have been a sham.
With a large cast and a fantastic script, this is a perfect play for the talented enthusiasts at Lyceum Theatre Oldham.
Directed by Karen Barton, whose recent credits include another Priestley play, Time and the Conways, is excited to be back at the Lyceum.”When We Are Married is about relationships of all sorts. It packs a punch at snobbery, self-importance, bullying, hypocritical behaviour. All of this seems highly relevant today.”
