Out of sight, out of murder by Fred Carmichael
Saddleworth Players at the Millgate
Saturday night saw us taking a trip out to the Millgate Arts Centre to take part in the opening night of the Saddleworth Players production of Out of Sight, Out of Murder by Fred Carmichael.
The play is directed by Verity Mann and beautifully done. The characters were well played by obviously carefully chosen actors. They were very cleverly portrayed and led my mind to thinking about all the other murder mystery plays I’ve ever seen and the personalities therein. Most of the action took place on stage although the dialog helped us to imagine happenings in the rest of the rooms of the dark and dingy house that was the setting.
Although a serious subject matter, murder, there were many laughs and amusing quips.
There were a few first night nerves, but the reaction from the audience on curtain close was very encouraging and I expect the cast to go from strength to strength.
A very novel twist on an already exciting theme for a play. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all the characters. It’s certainly one for all ages to enjoy.
