Pet Networking in Saddleworth

Networking with Pets

On Monday night, there was the first gathering of  Saddleworth pet care businesses and some Saddleworth pet owners to share their love for animals and knowledge.

The evening was run by Veterinary Nurse Rachel Bean and Veterinary Surgeon Katja Londa.

They were supported by other members of the Pet Friendly Saddleworth group set up by Rosie Littlewood of Delph Dog Walking.  They met at the Royal George Pub in Greenfield.

Katja shared knowledge about pet foods including the differences between dry, raw and a home cooked diet. She also touched on titre testing that’s a new concept in identifying the immunity of a dog. She spoke quite in depth about inoculations and their benefits and pitfalls.

Rachel talked about her role as a Veterinary Nurse and the hazards of diagnosing a health problem in an animal and the consequences. She also showed the gathering how to resuscitate a dog by using a demo puppet dog called Casper. A couple of the group then experienced performing the procedure themselves.

With a raffle they managed to raise £150, which is to be divided between  their chosen charities ‘Pennine Pen Animal Shelter’ and ‘Street Paws’.
