Saddleworth Police Now On Twitter

There’s a new way to keep track of the latest information from our local police. The Saddleworth and Lees Neighbourhood Policing Team has today joined Twitter.

The first news update was a warning to people in Lees to beware of lead thieves. Increased patrols are now operating in that area, and residents are being told to report anything suspicious.

For the uninitiated, Twitter is a free service which allows users to share information with each other. Officers say they hope to use it to provide “useful and up-to-date information” on what’s happening in our area.

You can follow the GMP Saddleworth account here. The Saddleworth News Twitter feed is here.

It’s not the first innovation from our local police force this year. Officers have already taken part in a live online meeting with residents, believed to be the first of its kind in Greater Manchester. You can read more about that here.

You might also have read about the new national police website which gives in-depth details of local crime. Even though it struggled a bit to cope with demand on its first day yesterday, you should now be able to access it here. Local crime information is also available on the Saddleworth and Lees section of the Oldham Says website here.

But if you prefer a more traditional way of getting in contact with our local police, the office phone number is 0161 856 4523.
