Saddleworth Police To Hold Online Q&A

Our local police are to hold another online meeting, to take your questions and hear your comments on crime and anti-social behaviour across Saddleworth and Lees.

The forum will take place between 6pm and 7:30pm on Tuesday 6 September. You can access it at the Saddleworth and Lees police team’s website here.

If you’re not able to follow the meeting live, you can submit a question in advance and it will be answered during the session. The e-mail address to use for questions is saddleworthandlees.npt@gmp.police.uk

Three constables, Stephanie Whitehead, Dave Pickles and Mark Clough, will take part. They’ll be joined by the Chair of the Saddleworth and Lees District Partnership, Cllr Barbara Beeley, and Oldham Council’s Neighbourhood Manager Lisa MacDonald.

It’ll be the second webchat of its kind, following a successful debut for the initiative earlier this year. Then, residents raised queries over issues including burglaries and dog fouling. The virtual forums are in part a response to low attendances from members of the public at traditional-style meetings.

In a statement announcing Tuesday’s session, Insp Danny Milovanovic said: “We first tried this style of meeting at the start of the year in January. It was a real success and we know from that experience and the feedback we have received from the public that our community want to have their say about how can make their area safer.”

He added: “Experience and use of social media site Twitter has shown us that some residents find it difficult to come along to meetings and surgeries and some prefer virtual contact with their area officers, so this is an ideal way for them to tell us their concerns without leaving the comfort of their own homes.”
