Turnout “High” In Saddleworth

The primary school in Dobcross is being used as a polling station today.

People across Saddleworth are casting their votes today in both the general and local elections. Turnout is “high” so far, according to one candidate I bumped into in Dobcross earlier.

Although it’s an overcast day, there’s not expected to be much if any rain, so that could help encourage undecided voters out to the polling stations. The polls close at 10pm.

The results of the Westminster constituencies should be announced in the early hours. Counting in the council elections won’t begin until tomorrow, with the results expected during the afternoon.

I’ll update this site with results and analysis as the declarations come in. During the night I’ll also be regularly tweeting election news at the Saddleworth News Twitter account here, so do follow it if you don’t already.
