Schools

We have been reflecting on our work this year in supporting schools to understand and assess their approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing support. This ended in a number of schools going through a process of identifying areas where they can improve things. This might be embedding how to understand and express feelings, across all curriculum areas, and reducing the stigma around mental health, which is still a problem. There are increasing school pressures with transitions in to secondary school and college. Exam stress and friendship issues are just a few, as well as pressures outside of school e.g. family break-ups which challenge young people. The work we do helps young people deal with these situations more positively, so as to become more resilient.

Join us at the Sort It Drop-in (for 8 to 18 year olds) on Thursday evenings 5pm to 8pm.

Menopause Cafe

On the 4th August,  Topaz Café  hosted its second Menopause Café! But what is it? A Menopause Cafe is a group directed discussion of menopause with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a support or counselling session. “Unfortunately, many women feel that they should just ‘get on with’ the Menopause, with some never talking to their friends of family about it, but the reality is that it affects all women eventually, not forgetting those who live and work with them.” Rachel Weiss, founder of Menopause Café.

Fundraising Stars

Delph Primary School organised and held a ‘Trading Day’ event where they managed to raise a whopping £522.33!
