Uppermill Community Association (UCAN) have focused their recent activities on sewing wild flowers obtained from Grow Wild and others, in the verges cleared during the recent wash-wall repairs, the beds at Wade Lock, and in the woodland section under Limekiln Lock.

Last years planting by the group has proven to be a great success, bringing extra springtime colour to the towpath through Uppermill.

UCAN has also continued with painting work on the new gates at Dungebooth Lock, and have also commenced their first Himalayan Balsam clearing activities, to try and control this highly invasive annual weed.

They are always pleased to welcome new members, to enjoy some healthy exercise in a friendly atmosphere, and at the same time make Uppermill an even better place to live.

For anyone interested in joining them on future project days, their programme can be obtained by contacting them directly on the details below.

The usual meeting point is 10am at Limekiln lock, but this is sometimes changed.

New volunteers are advised to check a few days in advance with the Project Day calendar view-able on their website at ucanuppermill.com
