Marshals needed
As you will know, the local and Greater Manchester mayoral elections are taking place on the 6 May 2021.
It goes without saying that planning for this election has been like no other, with a range of challenges and obstacles to overcome to ensure the democratic process can run smoothly.
With this in mind it is now looking for people to work as COVID-19 Marshals over the election period to help ensure they are run in a COVID-secure manner.
It is seeking Marshals from within Oldham Council, Unity Partnership, NHS Oldham CCG and the voluntary sector. Marshals will be responsible for ensuring:
• Social distancing outside of polling stations
• Voters wear face coverings inside polling stations and whilst waiting
• Voters have their own pen / pencil for voting
• No prior experience is needed with full training being provided
All staff supporting the election will be required to undertake a COVID test prior to their shift, arrangements will be communicated to you following your appointment to the role.
Polling stations are open from 7am – 10pm and Marshals will work in 5 hour shifts (7am – 12pm, 12pm – 5pm and 5pm – 10pm).
Working as a Marshal there will be a payment for the position of £9.33 per hour.
