After 21 yrs as a police officer, Lisa opens The Dog Grooming Shed in Delph

Lisa Wroe has just opened a new dog grooming salon in Delph. Behind a big green door, easily found in the entrance to’Mallalieu’s’ Valley Mill, is an oasis of calm that Lisa has recently made her own.

Lisa told Saddleworth News and Life : ” I’ve been a police officer for 21yrs and I decided it was time for a change. I decided to follow my passion for dogs 2 years ago and enrolled on a dog grooming course in Wigan, and haven’t looked back.

“My little boy was obsessed with the before and after pictures of the dogs and so this inspired me to write a book based on the lovely visitors to my dog grooming room – Tails from the Dog Grooming Shed. I have built a nice client base now and from 3 April I will be in Delph, in Valley Mill on the Sound in Delph.”

Her parlour for the dogs was very calming. When I walked in she had rather excitable dog on the table which had just had a bath and was awaiting a trim. Ella, a lovely little mixed breed, quickly settled in the proficient hands of Lisa, and patiently waited for her to be groomed. Lisa had calming music and essences in the room which, I’m sure, wouldn’t fail to relax the most nervous pooch. Lisa’s bathing and grooming products are all natural and so adding that extra level of care for even the most sensitive of dogs.

Lisa is passionate about dogs and treats them as if they were her own, which she thinks is really important. Her little boy goes to Dobcross school where she has read her book to curious children, as well as at Diggle nursery.

Lisa said : “Its lovely to see the look on the little ones faces when I read it to them. My second book has just been published and I will be selling both of them from my shop, as well as products for dogs. I am also a collection point for members of the public to drop off food for the RSPCA at my place.”
