Smear Claims Hit Labour Selection Contest

The battle to become the Labour candidate for Stalybridge and Hyde has taken a new twist, with allegations that a councillor who was interested in the job tried to smear one of his rivals. The Tameside Eye blog has reported that Cllr Sean Parker-Perry sent e-mails using an assumed name in an attempt to damage the chances of his fellow Longdendale Councillor, Jonny Reynolds.

Cllr Parker-Perry has denied the allegations.
