Debbie Abrahams, Labour’s candidate for Oldham East & Saddleworth, who is seeking re-election in Thursday’s election, was joined on the campaign trail in Lees by recently elected Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham.
Andy said: “I want to thank the people of Oldham for giving me their support to become the first elected Mayor of Greater Manchester. But, to get the best possible deal for you, I need strong Labour MPs like Debbie Abrahams, back in Parliament fighting for Greater Manchester. So, on Thursday 8th June, please vote Labour and vote for Debbie Abrahams.”
Debbie commented: “It’s so great to have Andy here backing my campaign. I want to keep up my work to make Oldham a fairer place to live and work and, if re-elected, I will work closely with Andy, to deliver this.
“This election is a clear choice between me and the Tories who are putting Oldham and Saddleworth at risk.
“They are promising to cut winter fuel allowance for 15,000 Oldham pensioners, cut free school meals and their cuts to social care has led to a crisis in our NHS. That’s why I will be fighting hard for every vote.”
