Artists To Hold Saddleworth Festival Fringe In Uppermill
The Woodend Artists Group has announced details of a fringe event to take place during the Saddleworth Festival of the Arts next month.
The artists will be holding a week-long exhibition of their work, and putting on music and poetry performances, at Christy’s Coffee House in Uppermill, for the duration of the festival which runs from Saturday 4 June to Sunday 12 June.
There’ll be an opportunity to meet the artists themselves on the first Saturday evening, from 6pm to 10pm. Also playing that night will be musicial duo Strum and Bass, who will be busking at the venue at various times during the week.
The artists, based at Woodend Mill in Mossley, say the exhibition will provide an alternative view of the art world by local artists. There’ll be work on display during the week from visual artists Sue Platt, Jacqui Symons, Cara Campbell, Pat Baker, Peter Castle, Martin Fitzpatrick, Chris Towers, Alexander Towers and Richard Dawson, as well as from photographer Jude Gidney and sculptor Mike Green.
The exhibition will be open between 10am and 6pm Sunday to Thursday, and from 10am to 10pm on Friday and Saturday. Poetry read by Pat Baker will take place on Friday 10 June between 8pm and 9pm.
