Millgate Arts Centre launches an appeal to help refurbishment plans
Theatre-goers packed Millgate Arts Centre last Saturday night to hear news of the new season 2018/19 starting in September and the New Auditorium Appeal .
The evening included launching an appeal to raise funds to repair and refurbish the auditorium: replacing the ceiling, new lighting, decoration, and carpets, improved view by changing the raking of seats, alterations to the stage lighting, rebuilding the technical (sound & lighting ) box), improving safety & access for all standards and finally replacing the Edwardian cinema seats with comfortable and more flexible theatre seats to cater for the wide needs of the Saddleworth Creative Community.
John Tanner, actor and member of the management team leading the Auditorium Appeal said “ We want to make the auditorium the most comfortable amateur theatre in North West for Theatre goers and need your help to raise £50,000. Try out the new seats and help us choose the right one.” “ you have the opportunity to literally put your name on a seat, by sponsoring a seat”
Councillor Shadab Qumer, the Mayor of Oldham said : “I’m impressed with the Millgate Arts Centre as a hub for the community, and how important it is to engage with younger people in providing a wide range of shows and the skills that can be learnt by being involved in them.”
