Café To Open Inside Brownhill Centre

The Brownhill Centre.

Part of the Brownhill Countryside Centre on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal is to become a café.

Oldham Council has put some of the building, which is at the Wool Road roundabout between Uppermill and Dobcross, up for lease with an asking price of £6,500 per year.

It’s one of four similar offers being made by the council. The others are at Gallery Oldham, Failsworth Library, and Higher Crompton Park.

The centre is popular with walkers and users of the canal, and will continue to offer its current service of maps and other tourist information. The public toilets on the site are part of Saddleworth Parish Council’s Community Toilets scheme.
