Delph And Dobcross Still Top Despite Defeat
Delph and Dobcross held onto their lead in cricket’s Huddersfield League by a single point over Kirkburton, despite a disappointing weekend.
After Saturday’s game against Elland was abandoned because of the rain, they were beaten at Skelmanthorpe on Sunday.
D&D won the toss and decided to bat, and made a competitive total of 272/9 from their 50 overs. Opener Irfan Zahoor top scored with 71, while Luke Hargreaves added a valuable 68 off just 50 balls, hitting six 6s.
Skelmanthorpe looked in trouble when they were reduced to 45/3, but a remarkable partnership of 222 between Haroon Rashid (133) and Paul Davis (103 not out) steered them to a six-wicket win with 2.5 overs to spare.

However, D&D got back to winning form on Tuesday night, as they demolished Linthwaite by nine wickets in their latest pool match in the T20 Cup.
