Delph And Dobcross Suffer Honley Defeat

Any lingering hopes Delph and Dobcross had of winning cricket’s Huddersfield League took a severe dent on Saturday, as they were beaten by leaders Honley. The visitors won by 8 wickets in a rain-shortened match.

The game was reduced to 25 overs a side with D&D winning the toss and choosing to bat. However, they were bowled out for just 104, John Morris top scoring with 27.

Honley reached their target after 16 overs for the loss of their two opening batsmen, Simon Kelly who made 36, and Richard Jakeman who scored 34.

The result leaves Honley seven points clear of Shepley at the top of the table, while Delph and Dobcross remain third, 26 points behind the league leaders.
