Delph And Dobcross Win Cup Semi Rehearsal

Delph and Dobcross continued their good form with a comprehensive victory over Elland in their Huddersfield League match on Saturday. It’s particularly good news for D&D, as they face the same opponents next weekend in the semi-final of the Sykes Cup.

D&D were put in to bat and ran into early trouble as the visitors reduced them to 79/5. However, professional Bilal Khiljee and captain Grant Jones rebuilt the innings with a partnership of 98, before Matt Norvall joined Khiljee to smash 94 off the last eight and a bit overs. Khiljee finished on 119 not out, as D&D made 271/6 from their 50 overs.

Elland never looked like reaching their target as they lost wickets at regular intervals. No player scored more than 40 as they were bowled out for 148, with Khiljee and Norvall taking three wickets each.

D&D’s 123-run victory mean they keep the pressure on the only two teams above them in the table, Shepley and Honley, who also happen to be D&D’s next two league opponents.
