Denshaw Village Cinema to help the Syrian refugee crisis

Last weekend there were two collections in Greenfield of food and clothing for Syrian refugees, which are now on their way to Greece, Hungary and Austria.

There is one at Denshaw this coming Saturday, at the Village Hall from 2.00pm till 10.00pm.

If you are going to the Village Cinema to see ‘Woman in Gold’ you can drop off any items you might like to contribute whilst having that coffee or glass of wine before the show!

The following items are badly needed:

Clothing: Warm clothing, raincoats, waterproofs, socks, comfy shoes (not high heels!) walking boots.

Bedding: Sleeping bags, blankets, tents, sleeping mats

Hygiene: Shampoos, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, towels, sanitary pads. nappies.

First Aid: simple pain killers, plasters, sanitisers, mosquito protection cream.

Food: canned foods, lentils, sweet corn, fruit, dates, peanut butter, margarine.

Everything they receive at the cinema will be taken to a central collection point at Smithfield Market, Manchester early next week and will be shipped out next Thursday.

Volunteers are needed to help move the stuff on Sunday/ Monday.
