Diggle Blues Festival In Full Swing
This was the scene at the Hanging Gate in Diggle on Saturday night, as the 2:19 Blues Band rounded off the second evening of the Diggle Blues Festival.
There was a healthy crowd inside the pub, including event organiser David Wood, who had a big smile on his face as he told me the festival had been “brilliant” so far.
Two gigs took place on Friday night, with a further four at four different venues on Saturday. David said Saturday’s heavy rain had affected the attendance at the first of the day’s shows, at Kiln Green hall, but said there was a packed crowd at Diggle Band Club for Yes Sir, who apparently went down a storm.
There’s still a chance to go along to a concert as there are more shows on Sunday. Entry to all of them is free.
Sunday’s schedule is: 1:30pm-3:30pm Blues Blasters (Kiln Green), 4pm-6pm Junkhousedog Blues Band (Diggle Band Club), 6:30pm-8:30pm The Bad Back Blues Band (Hanging Gate). After the last performance at the Hanging Gate, there’ll also be a guest appearance by Charlene Fogarty, and a singalong of blues favourites.
