Diggle Win Local Derby

The local derby on Saturday went Diggle’s way. They beat Uppermill 1-0 to move above them in the Huddersfield and District League Division One table.

The result means Diggle are now fourth in the league, two points ahead of Uppermill and with two games in hand. However, they’re still well behind the leading trio of Newsome, Shepley and Lepton Highlanders. There’s more information at the league’s website here.

There was another dramatic victory for Mossley in the Unibond Division One North. They came from behind once again to win 3-2 at Wakefield, with Lee Blackshaw getting another vital late goal.

Ben Richardson and Chris McDonagh were also on target for Mossley, who are now up to 13th in the table. There’s a full match report and photos at the Mossley website here, and you can view the table at the Unibond League site here.

Springhead had a less exciting afternoon in their Manchester League game at Royton Town. It finished goalless, so Springhead remain ninth in the table, which you can see here.

Meanwhile, in rugby league, Saddleworth Rangers managed a point-a-minute as they thrashed Heworth 80-0. Rangers are now three points clear of Thatto Heath at the top of the National Conference League Division One, but have played three games more. There’s more at the league’s website here.
