Dobcross Silver Band has just announced the appointment of a new Musical Director.
Tim Sidwell has been given the role after a series of auditions. Tim is an immensely popular choice with everyone connected to the Band.
He achieved outstanding results as Musical Director with Crofton Silver Band and for the last 5 years has been playing with Championship band Hepworth.
Tim’s first engagement with the band was the annual trip to the Durham Miners Gala where they again played in support of the Boldon Colliery Community Banner Group. The Band is currently working on a programme of music for their annual Brass on the Grass concert, on the Green in Dobcross, which has now been rescheduled for 15 September.
The future once again looks bright for the Silver Band, the positive impact of Tim’s arrival already evident with a new spirit and vigour at rehearsals.
The band still has vacancies on cornet, euphonium and tuba seats and would encourage any players who may wish to consider joining them at this exciting time to get in touch!
The band rehearses in fabulous facilities at Dobcross Band Club on Monday and Wednesday evenings 8-10pm.
