Four mums from Dobcross took part in the Big Feed event at the Trafford Centre this week, held as part of National Breastfeeding Awareness Week.

Nic Labrey, Caroline Wright, Wendy Tomlinson and Lisa Hey joined dozens of other women by breastfeeding in front of shoppers, to demonstrate that breast is best. Nic has sent in these photos, so many thanks to her for that!

The event was organised by NHS officials, who are keen to both encourage new mums to breastfeed, and make them aware of the support available to them through local midwives and health visitors, including here in Saddleworth.

Also joining the campaign was Xfm Manchester presenter and Inspiral Carpets legend Clint Boon and his wife Charlie, with their youngest Cassius. You can see them interviewed in a report of the event from Granada Reports here. There are also more details from Mail Online here.

Fantastic effort, really proud of you. An all too often a taboo subject brought into the mainstream media. Well worth supporting, looking at the Granada Reports footage, I was genuinely surprised that the North West has the lowest percentage of breastfeeding mothers.
