Hardworking fundraisers from the Dobcross Youth Band have brought in £850 for cancer charity CLIC Sargent. They raised the cash through a variety of events over the past 12 months including concerts, sponsored rehearsals and bake sales. They also took donations during carolling in the village on Christmas morning.

Well done to all members of the band who helped. Those in the picture are, from left to right, Richard Kiy, Jason Smethurst, Reece Furness, Stephanie Rushton, Beth Gillard and Emma Bayley.

Meanwhile, the band is holding a brass for children recruitment evening at Dobcross Band Club next Thursday, that’s 5 May, between 6pm and 7:30pm.

It’s an opportunity for youngsters aged seven and over to go along, try a brass instrument and take it home. The club can then organise weekly lessons. There are more details at the band’s website here.

CLIC Sargent helps children and young people diagnosed with cancer. You can find out more about their work at their website here.
