Labour Party candidates George Hulme and Kathryn Phillips were recently (Thursday 4th April 2019) elected to Saddleworth Parish Council, following the announcement of uncontested parish elections in both the Delph and Dobcross wards. Both will take their seats following Thursday 2nd May elections.

George Hulme, who is also standing for Labour in the Borough election in Saddleworth North was elected to represent Delph Ward. The parish ward once represented by his late father Ken Hulme. Life Coach and illustrator Kathryn Phillips was also elected to the Parish Council representing Dobcross and Diggle.

Cllr Sean Fielding, Leader of Oldham Council remarked:

“George Hulme and Kathryn Phillips will both be diligent and committed parish councillors. I look forward to working with them to deliver our promises to residents, including more investment in roads, a new school for Saddleworth and making Oldham the greenest borough in Greater Manchester.”

Following their election George Hulme stated:

“It was a pleasant surprise to find I’d won an election a month before it had taken place. I’m looking forward to serving my local community on the Parish Council. The target for me now is winning Saddleworth North in the borough elections on 2nd May. I was incredibly close last time and with a little extra support I can go all the way and make sure there is a strong, local voice for Saddleworth on Oldham Council.”

Kathryn Phillips said

‘I am looking forward to taking up my new role as Saddleworth Parish Councillor representing Dobcross and Diggle and hope to be a positive force for change’

Thursday 2nd May will see contested parish elections in Greenfield, Springhead Higher, Springhead Lower and Uppermill wards.
