Welcome to the new Saddleworth WI President

Pam Armstrong

The new president of Saddleworth WI is Pam Armstrong, who has lived in Grasscroft for over 20 years.  She is a dentist and previous owner of three local dental practices. Currently a mentor at Manchester Business Growth Hub and studying to advance her qualifications in business coaching. She is a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Business Programme.

She is the winner of numerous awards, including “Professional Woman in Business NW” and “Best Patient Care UK” and was a finalist for “Rochdale Businesswoman of the Year” and “Dentist of the Year North”, amongst others.  Pam has served as the National President of “Business and Professional Women UK” and was a founder member and chairman of “Women in Dentistry”.

A bit of an adrenaline junkie, she loves driving powerful cars, riding pillion on her husband’s motorbike, riding Segways and ziplining. Exercise is gym training, line dancing and countryside walks with rescue dog Chester. She volunteers as a “Silverline” telephone friend.

Pam says

“Saddleworth WI has recently undergone a transformation which is reinvigorating and enthusing our members. We have a new prestigious venue with a new inspired committee of which I was honoured to have been elected president.

For our first meeting at the White Hart, Lydgate we welcomed Councillor Sara Rowbotham as our guest speaker who eloquently described her experiences as a whistle-blower in the Rochdale Child Sex Abuse scandal. The room was full, standing room only, and many visitors joined the WI on the night. ( Please see forthcoming article on Saddleworth Life)

We are looking forward to our full programme of events, demonstrations, trips and speakers, the next being Suzanne Thorp from “The Frostery” on May 1st.  In addition, tickets are now available for our mixed open meeting on Sunday July 14th with afternoon tea and Edwina Currie talking about “Lies, Damned Lies and Politicians”.

My life has got challenging and interesting again!”
