Firefighters tackling large moorland blaze above Greenfield tonight

Firefighters are tackling a large moorland blaze above Dovestone Reservoir in Greenfield tonight.
The fire is thought to have started at around 8pm on land near to an access road just above the reservoir.
The fire has been burning over an area of approximately three square miles, causing a large amount of smoke to drift towards Greenfield and Mossley.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service currently have ten fire appliances at the scene, as well as a specialist support unit, and assistance from the police.
Strong winds that had been hampering the firefighting effort have now died down and the fire appears less ferocious at the moment.
Local farmers have also been helping at the scene along with wildlife officers.
