Former ranger creates unique Dovestone website

A former Peak District National Park ranger from Saddleworth has created a unique website to chronicle the heritage of the Dovestone area of Greenfield.
Geoff Frost, who lives in Greenfield, has spent over 25 years of his working life at Dovestone and after retiring decided to create the website after suffering a serious illness.
He has compiled a huge amount of factual information as well as superb photographs of the area, he has also included many things learnt and experienced from his time as a ranger. Photographs include fires, car crashes, disasters and unusual events.
Geoff told Saddleworth News: “After trawling the internet for information about the Dove Stone area, I was amazed by the amount of material available.
“The problem was that some information was incorrect and it took ages to try to find things.
“Having been a full-time ranger at Dove Stone for over 25 years I thought it would be a good idea to make up my own website with everything in one place.
“Being retired and also severely restricted with walking after a life-threatening illness, I had the time and also much research material and photographs of my own.
“I hope everybody enjoys it and I’d be pleased if they can leave feedback whether good or bad.”
After several months of hard work the website is now complete and viewable on the internet at: www.doveheritage.com
