Frankly my dear, we do give a damn!

This Saturday evening, I visited the tiny Millgate Arts Centre theatre in Delph, somewhere I’ve only been once before but years ago. The experience was a delight and had right in the middle of Saddleworth.
On arriving the staff were very welcoming as they continued to be throughout the evening. The Saddleworth Players are  a group of 150 people, all involved in working behind the scenes, running the theatre, set production and actors to mention but a few. There was an atmosphere of real pride of their production and theatre.

Once the play started I was transfixed with the actors and the story they told. A very amusing story of three guys locking themselves in a room for 5 days and writing a screen play for the block buster movie Gone with the Wind. It included numerous hilarious moments of the three of them acting out scenes in the movie, especially one of Scarlet and Prissy having a face slapping session. And the lady receptionist, bobbing in and out of the room, added to the great amusement of the situation. So in all, 4 actors kept the audience transfixed for 2 hours. Amazing!

The show included 120 leatherette bananas and 4lbs of peanuts, I’ll say no more – go and watch it!

Thank you, Saddleworth Players, for a highly amusing evening.

The show runs until the 7th October.
