From one extreme to the other: Thursday 7th May 2020 – Sunday 10th May 2020

Hi all,

April was the 3rd driest month I’ve ever recorded with well below average rainfall. It was also slightly warmer than your typical April as high pressure mostly controlled our weather. This weekend will see a big drop in temperature.

Thursday: Another warm day with sunny spells perhaps turning hazy later. With slightly unsettled weather out west, so not too far away, don’t be surprised if we catch a late-in-the-day shower. Max 19°C

Bank Holiday Friday: Warm with hazy sunny spells. It’s not expected to be as warm as yesterday but still a decent day and it should stay dry. Max 19°C

Weekend: Big change arriving

Saturday: Make the most of the warmth and especially the morning which will be dry with sunny spells. Cloudier for the afternoon with showery rain spreading south later. Colder overnight. Max 19°C

Sunday: Yesterday’s rain came south on a cold front and boy will we feel the difference. Cloudy with bright spells developing. A raw biting northeasterly wind and feeling much colder. Ground-frost overnight. Max 9°C

Outlook: Unbelievably another area of high pressure will build over the UK. I think we’ve had one poor week out of seven since the lockdown was put in place. So plenty of dry and bright weather to come, and at first some chilly nights with ground-frosts. Temperatures recovering during the week.
