Healthy trees being destroyed in Saddleworth

Reporter: Judith Grinter

There are reports of  mature healthy chestnut trees being destroyed in Levers Wood beside the path behind a concrete factory.

Sap is now spilling from the stumps left behind the remains of the trees left to partly impede the footpath so it is questionable if this has been done by professional tree surgeons.

Not only have the trees been cut, English blue bells (a protected species) about to flower have been trampled and covered with tree chipping. The river bank has been raised with spoil and it’s questioned as to whether this may add to flooding problems in Delph.
