The heartbroken owners of a dog that fell into the River Tame at Diggle yesterday are making an appeal to Saddleworth News readers for help in finding her.

Susie, an 18-year-old cross breed, was out on a walk and slipped into River Tame near the Diggle duck pond yesterday and was pulled down by the streams current.

A large number of people have been on a search of some parts of the river to try and find her but have so far had no luck.

Her owners are heart broken and are asking people to keep a watch out for her in the area.

A friend of the elderly owners told Saddleworth News: “Susie is both blind and deaf and becomes much disorientated and she is also very frail.

“Susie is not microchipped but does have an ID collar on.

“We are asking local people, especially dog walkers and ramblers, to please keep a lookout for her.”

A Facebook group has been started for the search for Susie which is called ‘Help Find Susie’ #findsusie

The number to contact with any information is 07736 283176 – this number is for a good friend of the owners.
