‘Inexcusable’ – Oldham MP’s reaction to Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust review revelations
Debbie Abrahams, MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth and a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health, a former Primary Care Trust Chair and a former member of Labour’s Shadow Health Team, said: “These are shocking and deeply distressing revelations.
“Over the last few months I have also been hearing directly from constituents about problems they have had with the Trust’s services and this leads me to question whether their complaints procedure is as effective as it should be.
“I met with the new Chief Executive, Sir David Dalton in August, when I became aware of the Care Quality Commission report, and I was assured by him that strategies are being put in place to ensure the people of Oldham and Saddleworth will receive the high quality care they expect and deserve.
“In the light of this distressing report I have requested my regular meeting with the Trust’s Chief Executive is brought forward, so that I may question him on the progress towards delivering the changes needed.
“I appreciate the real strain on the NHS and social care at the moment but these accounts of the care received are inexcusable.”
