Late kick-off is worth the wait at Oldham theatre

eFollowing major refurbishment of the auditorium, Lyceum Theatre Oldham returns with John Steinbeck’s adaptation of his classic novella OF MICE AND MEN, playing from 12 – 21 November 2015.

Set during hard times in 1930s California, John Steinbeck creates a microcosm of society in his portrayal of the American Dream. Gentle giant Lennie and his world-wise friend George are longing for a new life. Their hopes and dreams are reflected back at them through the characters they meet. Their lust for life and a better future lead to the only decision possible.

This classic American drama epitomises the plight of migrant workers and brings into sharp focus the desires and hopes of those desperate to reach their dream destination.

The play is directed by Pauline Walsh, one of two Artistic Directors of the Lyceum Players. ‘This powerful, uplifting story of friendship, love and devotion is a perfect start to our season about places and a great reason to try out our brand new seats. I am thrilled to be working with a strong cast on Steinbeck’s own adaptation.’

Lyceum Theatre Oldham has added in an extra performance for schools at the beginning of the run and season tickets, which allow you to see all four plays in the season for only £26, are selling fast.
